Some Interesting Videos....

Ok here are some videos that can be used in lessons. Some are better than others and some are similar to others but all seem to have something worthwhile to show.

The first video could be used as a lesson starter at the start of the module. It looks briefly at how glaciers are formed, where they are/were found and the way they shape the environment.

The second video is one created for AS level groups, although the initial part of it explaining the inputs, stores and outputs of a glacier could be used with younger age groups. It provides and briefly explains a few key terms.

AQA Geography AS level – Glaciers

This is one of my favourite videos and is suitable for all age groups when discussing  how glaciers form.

Formation of Glaciers

This video contains some key terms and could be used at the start of the lesson to provide images and brief descriptions of terms which could be expanded on later in the lesson. The only issue with this video is the music that accompanies it and as such would probably best be viewed without the volume as it is rather distracting.

Glacial Features

The last video is most suited to older students and mainly explains how landscape has been shaped by glaciers and when and why ice ages occur.

The Ice Age

Obviously these are not the only videos on the internet which can be useful in explaining various aspects of glaciers to a class but they are an example of the different types of videos that can be found to explain glaciers, depending on what part of the topic and what age group are being taught.
